Robin Hood Marathon & Half-Marathon, September 12th 2005

This was the second time the club was represented at the Robin Hood, three members having taken part in the half-marathon last year. This year saw Gwyn enter her first half and Greg his first full marathon. Jason took part in the half and kindly acted as a pacemaker for Greg, since the first 12 miles are common to both races.

A huge gang of friends, family and hangers-on travelled down to Nottingham to support the runners. The pre-race warm up was a mass-participation aerobics session, which provided an opportunity for Jason to show off his incredible lack of coordination and rhythm.

Gwyn made a stirling effort, getting in at just over 2 hours. Greg finished in just under 4 hours, helped at the end by Cheryl and Danny who joined him for the final few miles.

Greg used the race to raise money for Francis House in Didsbury, a hospice for terminally ill children; the grand total was an unexpected and massive £750!! Ten thousand thanks to everyone who contributed.
