Since its inception in May 2003, Sandbach’s very own running club has gone from strength to strength. It started as a small group of runners who though it better to run with other like-minded folks than to slog it out alone. At present, the club has a membership of over 50.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 6.30pm and Sundays at 9.00am at Elworth Cricket Club, where members can enjoy use of the changing facilities, showers and, on a Wednesday night, enjoy a post-run drink in the bar!

The club exists to encourage people of all abilities to get fit or fitter. It welcomes everyone from complete beginner to the marathon runner. The main aim, however, is to have fun, meet people and stay motivated. The club is affiliated to the UK AAA and has a qualified coach, Danny McLaughlin, who can offer advice to all.

We are now meeting on the last Friday of each month at various venues. If you have any suggestions of good Pubs/Restaurants that are worth a visit let Christine know verbally or by e-mail :  cj321@btinternet.com

Our next outing will be to "Cafe Symphony"on the 4th of July at 7.30pm. We will need to book for this one, so names to Christine as soon as possible please.

Can we please ask that you keep a note of what you have ordered, including drinks. We can then divide up the cost fairly at the end of the evening

The Nutters Series

The Nutters Series will be a separate series of races from the main club championship.  The winner will qualify for a separate award at the club awards dinner in February 2009.

Jason's Treasure Hunt

Jason's Treasure Hunt takes place next Sunday (6th July).  Please arrive at the cricket club before 9am for a briefing and a 9:30 start.

Briefly, Jason will issue you with a map showing 26 checkpoints.  You have to visit as many checkpoints as possible and record a piece of information relating to that location.  As you visit each checkpoint you will receive points - the farthest flung checkpoint does not necessarily award the highest number of points.  There are also spot prizes for achieving closest to 150 and 200 points.  Hence you do not need to bust a gut by running round to win.

There is a curfew of 12pm to arrive back at the cricket club else penalty points will be incurred.  There will be a BBQ to welcome you back to the finish.  We suggest you bring a mobile phone for safety and a drink for the way round.

Please support this event as Jason has put in a lot of hard work in planning it.

Thanks,
Tom

PS - there is no treasure.  Sorry
