Sandbach Striders

First Strider Home...

So today I ran the Indian Queens Half Marathon and for the first time in a long time I ran with Jon.

Indian Queens is a stones throw from Newquay, North Cornwall so the opportunity to add this one to my current training plan whilst on holiday seemed too good to miss.  After some fantastic weather during the previous week, this morning started extremely soggy so we were not really expecting much.

The race is registered as multi-terrain and at times we could have been in Sandbach on the Salt Line if it were't for the inflatable sharks and crocodiles lining the route across Goss Moor.  A brass band playing at 3 miles was a welcome distraction.  The route crossed the river Fal, just a small stream at this point and headed through country lanes before returning to the industrial town of Indian Queens itself.  I felt slightly intimidated even at my ripe old age by the number of club runners on the start line and all from Cornwall or South West, however the legs felt good and the husband managed to keep up with my blistering pace somehow to achieve my second PB in two races of 1:53:37.

So for once we were the first Strider and the first Macc Harrier home! A good day out was had by all
