Meanwhile, a new parkrun in nearby Warrington held its inaugural event. The single lap route around Victoria Park proved to be incredibly popular with 410 finishers in total. Club Chairman was the sole Strider to make the journey north and recorded a time of 24:14.
On Sunday, Liz O’Keeffe and Denis Culloty headed even further north up into the deepest depths of Lancashire for the annual running of the Welcome Tavern 10k near Preston. Liz finished in 57:37 narrowly pipping Denis to the finish line who crossed it in 58:06. A full race report will follow on here tomorrow.
Meanwhile Chris Brumby alongside part-time Strider and Sandbach resident Jon Tatham tackled the Marmot Dark Mountains . This gruelling overnight mountain marathon is run in teams of two. Despite Chris and Jon much to their horror having one of the highest combined ages (kindly pointed out by Jon's wife Elaine), they completed the course coming 6th in their category. They ran 44.4k in total (around 28 miles) with nearly 2km of ascent, through the night in 11:36:32
