Sandbach Striders

Once more members of Sandbach Striders Running Club found themselves running free weekly parkruns all over the country.

At the nearby Congleton parkrun ten Striders ran the three laps of Astbury Mere country park. Rachel Green continued her run of good form ad recorded yet another new personal best time. John Wright made his debut parkrun. Elaine Tatham was narrowly pipped to the post by her son Jack.

Craig Edwards ran the Walsall Arboretum parkrun, based in the attractive Victorian public park located close to Walsall town centre in the West Midlands. Craig completed the 5k course in 24:17.

In Cornwall Matt and Elaine Wood ran the Tamar Lakes parkrun around the extensive country park near the town of Bude. Elaine managed to put one over husband Matt by recording a new personal best time. Matt finished in 25:58 and Elaine in 28:42.

A new parkrun event was launched in the grounds of Croxteth Hall in Liverpool. The large grounds formed part of the former country estate and ancestral home of the Earl of Sefton. Two Striders were present Paul Barnett who finished in 23:12 and Michael Escolme who finished in 31:20.

On Sunday the Stroke Association organised a series of running events in Delamere Forest under the ‘Revolution Runs’ umbrella. Mat Simister ran the 15k route whilst Steph Cooper opted for the 5k alternative.

Also in action on Sunday was Chris Brumby who once more ran the Haworth Hobble. A 32 miles off-road route traversing the gritstone moors around Haworth, Todmorden and Hebden Bridge, this challenging event includes over 4400 feet of ascent and descent. Chris completed the event in  6:39:22.
