Sandbach Striders

Members of Sandbach Striders partook in four different parkrun events this week. The popular free weekly 5k events continue to extend their reach around the country and provide runners with an excellent way to gauge their progress.

The parkrun at Congleton attracted a record attendance, aided by sixteen Striders who ran the three laps of Astbury Mere. Five Striders recorded new personal best times, Francis Gilchrist, Jason Bulley and graduates of the Sandbach Striders couch-to-5k programme Helen and Cat Child and Claire Dalton.

Tony Ward opted to run the Delamere Forest parkrun which he finished in a time of 29:08. Two Striders managed to squeeze a parkrun course in whilst on holiday. Firstly Darren Varley ran the Plymvalley parkrun in Devon in a time of 19:50, finishing third overall. Denise Dowling ran the Hampstead Heath parkrun in a time of 31:05.

On Sunday it was the Crewe Air Products 10k, a popular two-lap course around Crewe Business Park whose flat course often provides runners with the opportunity for a fast time.
