Sandbach Striders

A quick dash up the A50 on Thursday evening saw me on my way to the Warrington 10K.
According to the billing the course is flat fast 10K. The race has been hosted by Warrington Road Runners for the last 35 years and it is the longest established 10k in Warrington.

The was race started at 7:30pm by a loud claxon and was a two (and a bit) laps of
Woolston park, east Warrington which does not cross any roads. Weather overcast but warm with a slight breeze. The course weaved along grass paths, tarmac park paths, earth tracks in the woods and along pavements – all sorts. The only downside in the course was the pavement section which had parked cars on it, forcing runners to single file and to watch their elbows!

Local clubs were well represented, Warrington Running Club; Penny Lane Striders; Lymm Runners and many more with the eventual winner Tesfaye Debele coming from Leeds with a gun time of 32:11. I was the only Sandbach Strider taking part and was pleased to finish with a gun time of 40:40 - 28th out of 348 starters.

Overall this is a very good course which I would like to do again.
