Sandbach Striders

As the summer holidays begin the number of organised running races decreases, as such members of Sandbach Striders mainly participated in the free weekly 5k parkruns that continue to grow in popularity around the country. Striders took part in five different events.

Jaynie Turner opted to run a longer event at the weekend, choosing to run the notorious Lakeland 50. This 50 mile event starts from the Northern end of Ullswater before taking in Haweswater, Kentmere, Ambleside, Langdale and Tilberthwaite before the final climb and descent to the finish at Coniston. The route requires stamina and navigational skills and the 3100m of ascent tests the abilities of each participant. Jaynie finished the course in 18 hours 30 minutes.
