Thirteen members of Sandbach Striders running club ran the three laps that make up the free weekly parkrun at Astbury Mere near Congleton. Ben Collett and husband and wife team Steve and Gillian Fallows all earned new personal best times.

At the Gateshead parkrun, Michael Escolme ran the two laps of Saltwell Park, an attractive late-Victorian park near the centre of Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, finishing in a time of 30:59.

Gillian and Steve Fallows were back in action along with Moe Dutton at the Bollington 10k.

At Queens Park in Crewe, three Striders ran the South Cheshire 5k. Darren Varley earned himself a new personal best time and finishing in 7th position overall.

Craig Edwards and Paul Nicholls ran the Sandwell Six Towns marathon, an off-road route around Birmingham which takes in the 1.75 kilometre long Netherton canal tunnel.

Entries for the Sandbach 10k on Sunday 6th September are still available but selling quickly! The tenth anniversary of this popular running event will also feature a family fun run for the children to join in. All 10k finishers will receive an attractive and unique medal, special anniversary memento and goody bag. Whilst the runners are running there will be a whole host of family friendly events, such as face painting, bouncy castle, live music, cricket taster sessions, ultimate Frisbee, cake decorating, art and craft activities.
