Members of Sandbach Striders running club participated in five different 5k parkrun events around the country last weekend.

Closest to the home were the 12 Striders who ran the three laps of Astbury Mere at Congleton.

Three Striders travelled over to Delamere Forest to run the 5k circuit of Blakemere Moss. The results were:

Michael Escolme ran Northala Fields in North-West London. This course is around a large man-made country park landscaped on debris formed from the demolition of the original Wembley Stadium. Michael finished in a time of 32:12.

Grant Stanning found himself again near Bangor in North Wales where he ran the Penrhyn parkrun, a scenic two lap course around the scenic nineteenth century castle now owned by the National Trust. Grant completed the course in 29:41.
Steve and Julia Dunlop at the Conwy parkrun
Also in Wales was Julia Dunlop who ran the Conwy parkrun at the RSPB nature reserve near the Conwy estuary. Julia finished the course in 32:54.

Also in action was Tony Taylor who competed in the Cheshire Cross Country Championships at Reaseheath College near Nantwich. Tony finished in 88th position overall, coming 7th in his age category in a time of 42:49.
