Sandbach Striders

It was a relatively quiet week for members of Sandbach Striders –  six different parkruns, a trail run, a local 10K, a 10k further afield, and a local half marathon were all taken on and conquered.

For starters, five Striders ran this week's muddy Delamere parkrun.

Three Striders were in action at the free weekly parkrun at Congleton, with Steven Barton taking 3rd place overall and Heather Carter coming in as first lady.  The full results were as follows:

Our Chairman Michael Escolme ran the Hanley parkrun again this week along with Tracey Hale finishing in times of 25.42 and 30.44 respectively.

Duncan Robertson continued his tour of parkruns this week finding himself at Warrington and finishing in 32.43.

It was a family affair at Yeovil Montacute parkrun.  Tom and Amy Mayell and their son Adam ran the route around Montecute House in 29.13, 29.12 and 41.53 respectively.

Finally, Julia Dunlop was in Wales in the rain running the Conwy parkrun which she completed in 32.10.

Sunday brought with it the Wilmslow Half Marathon, a race with nearly 4000 entrants.  It is a fast race, taking in the country lanes from Wilmslow out to Mobberley and back, and  which often attracts elite runners.

Two Striders took part in the Newcastle 10K Road Race.  Starting outside Newcastle College, the race winds its way up the tough but rewarding Black Bank before descending into Silverdale. The route then goes along the old railway line for a fast run into the finish.  Liz O’Keeffe finished in 54.01 and came fourth in her age category.  Denis Culloty finished in 1.01.19.

Helen Child was in Bournemouth for their 10K.  The race had over 3000 entrants and included a climb up a steep cliff path.  Helen finishing in 56.36.

Finally Andrew Ayres and Mat Simister took park in Round two of the Peak District Trail Run Series, an off road race of 15k taking in views of Edale and Kinder Scout.  Andrew finished the trail in 1.42.47 and Mat in 2.16.05.
