This weekend 27 members of Sandbach Striders were in action, and competed in distances ranging from 5k through to marathon distance.

In the first of the five different free weekly 5k parkrun courses held nationwide every Saturday that Striders participated in, three Striders ran the beautiful course around Blakemere Moss in Delamere Forest. Lynsey Astles was first Strider home in 28:30, closely followed by Denis Culloty in a time of 29:03 and Tracey Surridge in 31:49.

Duncan Robertson continued his streak of parkrun tourism by tackling the parkrun at Bramhall Park near Stockport. The challenging route consists of two laps around the scenic grounds of the Tudor Manor house of Bramhall Hall. Duncan finished in a time of 34:18, narrowly pipped to the finish line by his daughter Milly.

Two Striders ran the Greater Manchester Marathon, a 26.2 mile road route around the provincial towns of Greater Manchester.
