On Saturday afternoon, eight Striders headed to Wincle near Macclesfield for the annual Wincle Trout Run. Coinciding with the village fete, the Wincle Trout Run takes place every summer – so called because every runner who completes the course takes home a fresh trout from Danebridge Fisheries! It is a demanding 9km fell run in the picturesque Dane Valley, crossing woodlands, rivers and high moorland with 950ft of climb. Congratulations to Heather Carter who came first in her age category.

It was a quiet Sunday for races which may have been a good thing with the heat the day brought. 6 Striders took part in the Ramathon, a half marathon in and around Derby. The race starts and finishes at the iPro Stadium in Derby. The scenic route takes in the picturesque Elvaston Castle County Park and is one of the flattest courses in the country. It is always well supported by locals along the route. Martin Gunther earned himself a personal best time.

Also braving the heat were Chris Brumby and Craig Edwards who took part in the Shropshire Three Peaks ultra marathon, a gruelling 42 mile event that takes in the three highest hills in the county, making for over 2000m of ascent! Both Chris and Craig finished in the top twenty.
