Here is a round up of this weeks running activities from Sandbach Striders.
On Thursday, Lynsey Astles headed to a wet Kingsley to take part in the Mid Cheshire 5k. Evidently not hampered by the weather, Lynsey earned herself a new personal best time of 24.47.

Saturday was #IAmTeamGB day, the Nations Biggest Sports day, and Striders were showing support at various parkruns.

Seven Striders took part in the Congleton parkrun at Astbury Mere. Full results were:

Duncan Robertson travelled to Marple Bridge for his parkrun this week completing his new favourite course in 27.32.

Paul Barnett visited the Edge Hill Campus to run the Ormskirkk parkrun, finishing in 20.22.

Steve Treweeks travelled to Dolgellau for sunny parkrun completing the course, two laps, each an out and back loop on an old railway line called the Mawddach Trail, in 34.24.

Chairman Mik Escolme was in Stoke for Hanley parkrun finishing in 27.50.
Over in Bulgaria, club member Liz O’Keeffee ran the O’Vech Fortress night race, an 8.5k race with took her over stone paths, up and down lots of steps and through the Fortress which gave the race its name. Liz finished the race in 1.17.

Paul Nicholls headed to the Black Country for the Sandwell 6 Towns Marathon. The route takes in each of the borough’s six towns and the famous 1.75 mile Netherton Tunnel. Paul finished in 13th place in a time of 5.04.

Finally for this week, three Striders took part in the Bollington 10k which follows a windy, steady, historic route through Bollington before entering on to the Middlewood Way and returning to the finish line. Despite the hills, the muggy weather and some wasp stings, Denise Dowling achieved a personal best time. Full results were:
