First of all a huge congratulations to Strider Matt Jones who became a father this week. Titchy Strider Edith Rose was born on Wednesday morning.

On Saturday morning Striders headed out to a wet and cold Astbury Mere for the Congleton parkrun. Full results were:

Paul Barnett was in Southport this week for his parkrun, completing the course in 20:07.

Stephen Mclean and Lisa Highfield were in Stoke for the Hanley parkrun finishing in 23:29 and 25:26 respectively.

Wendy Barnes was one of 731 runners at Greenpoint parkrun in Cape Town, South Africa. Wendy finished in 29:08.
Over in Bulgaria, club member Liz O’Keeffe ran her local parkrun in 26.20.
Moving on up from 5k to 10k, 8 Striders headed to Arley Hall to take part in the Cheshire 10k, a flat and fast road race around rural north Cheshire. Full results were:

Striders at the Cheshire 10k

Jumping to nearly marathon distance, Jo Bulley, Cheryl Hutchins and Gordon Hutchins participated in the 6 Dales Challenge, a scenic walk / run of 25 miles visiting Biggin Dale, Wolfscote Dale, Beresford Dale, Hartington, Monyash, Lathkill Dale, Bradford Dale, Long Dale. A wet and cold but enjoyable event, helped along by refreshments along the way, a friendly cow, and the reward of a hot meal at the end.

Sticking with the trails, Paul Nicholls took part in the Hardmoor Goathland Trail Marathon in the North Yorkshire Moors. In Paul’s words in was ‘muddy, rocky, hilly and wet’, and Paul clocked up nearly 30 miles in total.

On Sunday Gareth Evans and Andrea Reynolds headed over to the East Midlands for the Mallory Park duathlon which consisted of a 3k run, a 11k bike ride and a final 2k run. Gareth finished 3rd Male in 41:29 and Andrea was 6th female finishing in 52:22.
