Also on Saturday, Catherine Winders took on a mission at Capesthorne Hall to complete in the 2017 Born Survivor event. This isn’t a race, it’s more of a challenge, with mud, water, climbs, and many other obstacles to overcome. She commented that to her total surprise, she not only completed the 10k course, but all of the 30 obstacles in her way.

On Sunday, Jo Askey managed to persuade her son on his 12th birthday, that the best way to celebrate would be to watch his parents run. The event was the Carsington 7+, run around the reservoir in Ashbourne. The course is a 7.8 mile circuit of Carsington Water, which is undulating and includes some great views, and some moderate to steep inclines. Jo completed the course in 1:08:07, and received a technical t-shirt for her efforts.

Entries are now open for the Sandbach 10k sponsored by Butcher and Barlow. This year's event takes place on an exciting new course and is run entirely on traffic-free roads. It promises to be a great event for both new runners or for those looking to beat their personal best. Secure your starting place now at http://www.sandbachstriders.co.uk/ourraces/
