With the summer holidays coming to their end, but with people still away, it was another quiet week for the members of the Sandbach Striders running club in terms of events.
This week's races started on Thursday, with the fast Mid Cheshire 5k over in Kingsley Cheshire. Three members of the club took part, with a personal best for David Sharp. Darren Varley finished in 17:28, Andy Thomas in 19:23, and David Sharp in 22:57.
On Friday evening, Steve and Gillian Fallows were over in Blackpool for a family weekend. Whilst there they took part in the Blackpool Illuminations 10K, held on the promenades on the sea front. Gillian said the event was a great family atmosphere, and she managed a personal best in 51:37. Steve was pushing the buggy and pushed himself and Seb to the finish line in an impressive 45:53!
13 members from the club participated in four of the weekly free parkrun events. John Pemberton managed a personal best at Congleton in 19:18.

On Sunday, Philip Truman travelled to Bollington to take part in the part in the fourth Bollington 10K. Phil said it was a great event he really enjoyed, despite a hilly first 5K, and finished in 1:03:31.
And finally for this week, Gareth Evans had a Great day at Darley Moor duathlon. With a great cycle he had a 4 and a half minute age category lead going into the run section. The guy in 2nd place at transition however was 5 minutes quicker on the run, but Gareth finished the 5k run, 18.6km cycle and 5k run in a total of 1:18:34 to finish 2nd in his category.
