Members of Sandbach Striders running club were involved in events ranging from 5k up to the marathon distance and on all sorts of varied terrains this week. At the free weekly 5k parkrun in Congleton eleven Striders were in action with James Boon once more earning himself a new personal best time.

Three Striders travelled to Delamere Forest to run the parkrun course there. Lynsey Astles was first Strider home in a time of 28:44. Maureen Dutton was next in 30:30 with Tracey Surridge closely behind in a time of 32:22.

Michael Escolme ran the York parkrun. A one and a half lap route around the service track that runs along the perimeter of York racecourse. Michael finished in a time of 31:43.

Denis Culloty was in Lancashire to run the Cuerdon Valley parkrun, a scenic woodland course east of Preston. Denis finished in a time of 32:25.
Two popular local races were also held at the weekend. Cheadle Running Club once more staged their popular 5 mile road race around the North Staffordshire town of Cheadle. Three Striders ran the course, all earning themselves new personal best times for the distance.

Congleton Harriers organized the ever-popular Cloud 9 race, a nine mile off-road run p and over Bosley Cloud. Twelve Striders ran the event recording the following times:

Also in action at a local event was Steve Fallows who competed in the Oulton Park duathlon. The event consisted of 1 lap running the 4.3 km circuit, followed by 5 laps of cycling it with 1 further lap of running it to finish. Steve finished in a time of 01:19:44.

Slightly further away from home were Steve Treweeks and Craig Edwards who completed The Golden Fleece Circuit, a marathon distance off-road event held in South Cave near Hull. Both Striders completed the event in 5:13.

Completing the weekend’s races were three Striders who travelled to Anglesey to join another 1000 runners compete in the Half-marathon. Lou Hayward earned herself a new personal best time, whilst Matthew Jones completed his first ever half-marathon.
