Sandbach Striders

Members of Sandbach Striders running club were involved in 8 different Parkruns this week in 3 different countries, as well as a charity 5k in New Orleans, a 10k in Lincolnshire and a half marathon in London!

At the free weekly 5k parkrun in Congleton, nine Striders were in action with Craig Edwards earning himself a new personal best time.

David Sharp and Alice Bober travelled to the West Cumbrian town of Workington to run the Workington parkrun, an out and back route which affords the runners a terrific view over the North Sea. Alice had bragging rights finishing in a time of 23:54 which David following narrowly behind in a time of 24:36.

Matt Jones found himself in East Lancashire running the Burnley parkrun, a two lap course around the scenic Lynsey Astles at Delamere parkrun. Matt finished the course in a time of 24:41.

Lynsey Astles travelled to Delamere Forest to run the parkrun course there, completing it in a time of 28.22.

Michael Escolme ran the Horton Park parkrun in Bradford, his 80th difference course, finishing the three lap course in a time of 36.21.

Duncan Robertson ran the Kingsway parkrun in Gloucester with his daughter Milly. Duncan and Milly completed the three lap course around  Kingsway Manor Community Park finishing the course in a time of 32.18.

Julia Dunlop was in Wales for the Conwy parkrun, finishing the beautiful one lap course in 31.08.

Matt and Elaine Wood travelled to the beautiful Channel Island of Jersey for their parkrun this week, completing the course in 25.55 and 28.44 respectively.

Then on Sunday, Matt and Elaine took part in the Jersey Easter Half-marathon which started from Gorey in the east of the island and followed the coastal road before climbing towards the Les Quennevais sports centre and the race finish. Matt finished in 1:55:27 and Elaine in 2:14:29.

On Sunday Francis Gilchrist and Moe Dutton took part in the Vitality North London Half-marathon where runners finish the 13.1 mile course with a lap inside the iconic Wembley Stadium.

Francis earned himself a new personal best time of 1:38:06 with Moe narrowly behind in 2.09.46

Nick Hogan & Rachel Green were over in Lincolnshire at the Gainsborough 10k. The historic town of Gainsborough is famous for being the most inland port in England, being more than 55 miles (90 km) from the North Sea. The race is a very flat, rural road race. Nick finished in 43.18 with Rachel narrowly behind in 1.04.23.

Finally, Helen Childs took the opportunity whilst in New Orleans on business to take part in a charity 5K.  Starting at 7 am, the temperature was already 19 degrees and humid but a thoroughly enjoyable was to see 'The Big Easy.'
