Sandbach Striders

Last weekend whilst the rest of the Striders were Dig Deeping Jon and I completed the Chew Valley 10k near Bristol.  Here is my race report...
The Chew Valley 10k route

The second running of the Chew Valley 10K near Bristol was just as well organised as the first last year with celebrity race starters, activities for little ones including a fun run, food available and a live band (well actually this year that consisted of Jon's Dad, a bloke named Doug and yours truly entertaining the runners!)  So there I was at 8am when others were warming up and thinking about pre race preparations taking to the stage to perform classic tunes and some slightly more up to date numbers.  Off stage at  9 and on the road by half past ready to take to the streets.
Thanks to the sponsors every runner was called Debbie Fortune
I have run the course before but only in training - there is one massive hill in the second half of the race, otherwise a pleasant undulating route around country lanes.  Back in a pb time of 52:18 and 5th in my category then back on the stage for the second performance.  All in all a great day topped off with a bbq in next doors garden i.e. Jon's mum and dad's house!  Brilliant!  Jon came in with his brother having struggled with injury - nice to see the Tatham boys running together :-)
