An overcast, but rather warm day greeted 342 runners at Congleton parkrun on Saturday 20th July, which saw Sandbach Striders Running Club takeover all the volunteering and marshal duties.
Striders were out in force supporting and celebrating our C25K participants, who had recently graduated the Strider-led 12 week course. We were delighted to see all 15 graduates successfully complete their first ever parkrun and 5k - a huge congratulations to them all!
With many Striders regularly taking part in weekly parkruns, whether they be local, regional, national or even international, we were keen to give back and support our local parkrun. This was our third park run takeover at Congleton and by fulfilling all the volunteer roles from Run Director, to Marshal, from Time Keeper to Tail Walker, we were able to give the regular Congleton parkrun team a well earned week off.
It was a brilliant morning supporting fellow local runners achieve their own personal running goals. Whether it was to run a PB, hit a park run milestone, take part in their very first parkrun or simply be out of bed and running by 9am on a Saturday morning, we were delighted to be there to help everyone achieve their aims!
My thanks go out to all the volunteering team from Sandbach Striders for their help in the smooth running of the takeover. Many were first time volunteers and some were doing roles they'd never done before, but all completed their roles brilliantly. We also had Striders buddy up with our C25K participants supporting them around the course, ensuring everyone was able to achieve their goals.
Well done all and happy park running!
