Sandbach Striders

A fast and flat race, the Alsager 5 is seen by many local runners as the perfect start to the annual calendar, and it didn't disappoint for the Striders.

An overcast, but rather warm day greeted 342 runners at Congleton parkrun on Saturday 20th July, which saw Sandbach Striders Running Club takeover all the volunteering and marshal duties.

Hundreds of runners took part in the annual Sandbach 10K in sweltering conditions on Sunday August 11th.

Possibly one of the biggest Striders turn outs you'll see all year, the Pie and Peas never fails to disappoint.

It was while scrolling needlessly through social media one day that my running journey appeared to begin.

A resounding success!

With the COVID restrictions of 2021 behind us, it was a chance to fully embrace the rugby club as the home of the Sandbach 10k. With another sell out weeks in advance for the 10k, and of course the help from the members of Sandbac...

The weather couldn’t make its mind up about what it was going to do before the race as we moved from sunglasses to umbrellas back to sunglasses and then umbrellas again but by 09:30 it had settled on calm and cloudy for both races making it near to perfect conditions.

A sunny day, blue skies and not too warm made near perfect running conditions and enhanced a feel good factor about actually being able to do a real race.

With the festive period over, and we're well into the New Years Resolution period, Sandbach Striders are now starting their 2019 Couch to 5K Course.

With the summer holidays coming to their end, but with people still away, it was another quiet week for the members of the Sandbach Striders running club in terms of events
