'Coniston 14' is a very popular road race around lake Coniston (14 miles in total), held annually in aid of local charities. This was the 36th running of the event which was held on Saturday 25th March.

Today it was 'Wilmslow Half Marathon' day a very popular race on the half marathon calendar. It's long been established as one of the main half marathons in the northwest attracting a huge field in excess of 4000 runners, a mixture of club runners and social runners wanting to take on the challenge.

An early alarm wake up call (5.30am) meant it was Anglesey Half Marathon day. Sometimes I wonder why we put ourselves through it, and this was how I was definitely feeling at this unsociable hour in the morning. A hot shower and mug of tea soon lifted my spirits.

I hadn’t meant to enter, and it wasn’t initially part of the plan for the holiday. We had booked to go away with Carol’s family to celebrate her brother’s tenth wedding anniversary, get some winter sun and enjoy the all inclusive. Then, about a week before the flight, I looked online to see what there was to do when we were away and came across the Cyprus Marathon.

Biddulph Running Club, held there annual 'Mayors Charity Race' today at Knypersley Pool, it's a 5 mile trail run around knypersley pool reservoir, followed by a long uphill climb through woodland, over biddulph moor before returning around the lake back to the finish. It's a challenging course, very muddy (trail shoes a must) but equally rewarding with some beautiful scenery.

Striders took part in 4 chilly parkrun events this weekend and 2 events in ever so slightly warmer climates!
Striders joined in a pack of 198 runners, joggers and walkers at Congleton parkrun on Saturday, with three club members finishing in the top 10.
